Server Appliance Manufacturing Center Production Process and Post-Production Service

Source Code's dedicated, cross-functional teams are made up from all aspects of the business - engineering, manufacturing, quality, materials management, distribution, marketing, and sales. This group will stay with a project from concept design to distribution, becoming an extension of our customer's own staff.

Source Code breaks pre-production, production process, and post-production services into key service areas. Our advantage is that customers can choose services individually based on strategic outsourcing needs. Source Code will work with you to create an individualized contract manufacturing program that fits your specific needs.

Source Code Design Stage:

Our engineering team will work with you to understand the application software and help define the exact hardware requirements necessary to develop a system configuration platform based on the definition of those requirements.

Proposal:

A written proposal will be submitted outlining the hardware configuration, costs, warranty, support, and all other relevant issues to support the project.

Pre-Production Services

Before a finished system can be assembled and delivered, a host of pre-production services must be addressed. With this understanding, the Source Code Contract Manufacturing Center offers a complete portfolio of pre-production services including: prototype assembly and test, materials planning/component selection, and component obsolescence management services.

Prototype Assembly and Test Services

Source Code believes that at the start of any contract manufacturing relationship it is critical to demonstrate an understanding of the unique manufacturing challenges provided by each product. To meet this issues, the Contract Manufacturing Center's experienced prototype assembly team works closely with the customer and is able to move rapidly to understand these manufacturing challenges while defining and documenting the manufacturing process. The team is trained to treat each customer and product individually in order to clearly identify the manufacturing processes that work best that project.

In addition to identifying the manufacturing process that works best, the prototype team will also work with the customer on the final product design. Our focus is to provide design for manufacturing (DFM) analysis and point out cost reduction and system enhancement opportunities for each individual product at the prototype level.

Under the pre-production process, the Contract Manufacturing Center is able to complete either single prototype systems or slightly large pilot build exercises giving the customer confidence and a complete understanding of the manufacturing process.

Materials Planning/Component Selection Services

Understanding product materials and components at a compatibility and quality level is critical to delivering a superior product to the end user. The Contract Manufacturing Center incorporates this understanding into the production process at a pre-production level. Our commitment is to work with the customer to determine the best available components for each product design. This means suggesting component alternatives where applicable that will result in consistent quality at often dramatically cheaper costs.

Component Obsolescence Management Services

Component obsolescence is an issue addressed every day within our industry. Therefore, knowledge of component life-cycle issues and the application of this knowledge to contract manufacturing services is a natural extension of our services abilities. The Contract Manufacturing Center is dedicated to making every effort to notify customers of a component's end of life with enough time remaining to stock a sufficient supply for remaining product needs. Source Code is also able to lead component selection efforts for redesigning products based on obsolete components.

Procurement Services

Since 1992, Source Code Corporation has been committed to providing OEMs, ISV's, VARs, and Solution Providers with best-in-class components at very competitive pricing. Our same global procurement specialist who sources components for Source Code's baseline inventories also researches and locates supply chain materials used in proprietary contract manufacturing processes.

Because of the resulting transaction volumes and existing vendor relationships built by Source Code, the Contract Manufacturing Center is able to procure components, stabilize pricing, reduce transaction costs and quoting time, and obtain improved pricing for all contract manufacturing customers.

Assembly Services

Source Code's Contract Manufacturing Center provides complete box-build and full system assembly for high-end computing hardware. Our dedicated and experienced staff is able to manage complex assemblies with precision and a focus on quality.

Source Code looks at the assembly process as a partnership and is eager to work with the customer to establish program management and manufacturing thresholds that result in a consistent box-build process flow. In addition, the Contract Manufacturing Center has established procedures to incorporate engineering and design changes into the assembly procedure. The goal is to provide a flexible manufacturing strategy that can support customers' pre-production and production requirements.

Software Burn-in/Functional Test Services

With the commitment to manage the full production process, Source Code provides a full suite of test services. Services include:

  • Proprietary Software Burn-in
  • Custom Software Configuration
  • Functional and System Testing

Post-Production Services

The Contract Manufacturing Center's commitment to outsourced manufacturing does not end with the production process. Post-production services are equally important to a customer's manufacturing outsourcing strategy and thus fully supported by Source Code.

  • Logistics Services
  • Technical Support
  • RMA Services

Packaging:

During this developmental stage, we will develop work instructions for the final production units and design custom packaging material for your appliance. The prototype appliance will be provided to you for final acceptance.

Finished Product Warehousing

Source Code will act as a "virtual warehouse" for you and will stock your finished or semi-finished products in secured areas. From the secured storage area, products will be delivered to your specified destinations on an order-by-order basis.

Distribution/Fulfillment

Source Code will ship your appliance products to their required destinations in a timely manner.
